8 Activities That Help with Depression

You can’t be happy all the time; that's a fact. There are some times you feel sad and depressed. Some people do nothing, and some people take pills. Those are two extremes, but there are other natural things you can do to help yourself get out of a depressed state. A lot of people have become so dependent on drugs or alcohol, and some that have let the depression eat too deep into them have ended up committing suicide. As someone that really understands depression and how hard it can be sometimes to get out of it, I have taken time to list 8 activities that would help anyone going through depression right now feel better. Check them out below.

1       Take a Walk
This is one of my favorites, cos you don’t need anything extra. Long walks have done wonders for me in the past, and I have also read a lot about its health benefits. With a walk (alone), you get to free your mind of all your worries, and let in ideas that would be popping into your head at intervals.Take that walk tonight.

2       Let Go of Something or Someone
One of our problems as human beings is that sometimes we hold on to things or people longer than we really need them. There are so many things, experiences, and people in this world, but our time in life are limited. So, there might be some baggage you need to let go of to feel better which you might still be holding on to. It might be some items that remind you of a sad incidence, a job you hate, or someone that treats you like sh#t. Let go!

3      Write in Your Journal/Diary
Yea, this is also one of my favorites. I know a lot of people think it is just girls that keep diaries, but great men in history have been known to keep journals. Yea, journals might make it sound more formal, but it is really the way you look at it, cos the two words implies writing down/recording what happens every day in the life of the owner of the journal/diary. This really helps in a way I can’t really explain. You need to try it to understand how it helps. And you don’t need to be a writer, just get an exercise book and start writing down all that happened in your day at the end of each day.

4        Plan a Trip
It doesn’t have to be a trip to Europe, or the moon or anything; it could be a trip to visit someone in another state, or weekend trip to a resort in your state. And the trip doesn’t have to be scheduled for next week or next month, it could be planned for the next 7 months. The human soul feels better when it has something to look forward too. You might have noticed that sometimes you have more fun on the way to a party or a vacation than at the real deal. So, I say, plan a trip today.

5        Engage in Small Acts of Kindness
Yea, you are depressed. You might be down and out, and even broke with no single Naira note in your pocket, but it doesn’t mean there aren't things you can do right now that would make someone else feel better. You could help the old lady neighbor of yours with things from the market, or call someone just to complement them, or give out some things you no longer need to someone that would cherish those things. It will surely make you feel better.

   Learn Something New
There is always something new to learn, and the heart always leaps with joy when you are learning something new that interests you. In fact, when you stop learning or growing, you start dying gradually. Think about it, what happens when trees stop growing? They start the gradual process of dying. This is same with human beings. When you stop getting better, you start dying inside, and the sign of this dying is depression. So, go and learn something new today. It could be that new language you have been yearning to learn, or how to ride a motorcycle, or how to cook Jollof rice.

7    Read or Watch Something Funny
Really, there is nothing like some comedy to make you feel better when you are depressed. You could pop in that Night of a Thousand Laughs DVD, or stream some Basketmouth standup comedy on Youtube. Or go on Nairaland and read some really funny comments from the regulars on the forum. We are all different, and different things make us laugh. So, watch or read what makes you laugh.

8        Listen to Some Music
This is another great depression killer. You can even combine it with taking a walk; take a walk and listen to your favorite music from your phone. Or, just sit in your room and play your favorite music. It would brighten your mood and get you out of that depressed state. Songs from Nas always makes me feel better, no matter what state I am in. So, who is your favorite musician? Go listen to his/her songs, or just generally the kind of music you love.

Now, go and be happy.

4 Healthy Ways to Gain Weight Fast

You always see a lot of articles on how to lose weight, but you hardy see articles on how to gain weight. But the truth is there are a lot of skinny people out there who wish they could gain a little weight. I am slim person, and I fluctuate between skinny and athletic, so I understand the agony of being a skinny person. So, I have taken time to list four ways to gain weight naturally in a matter of weeks. Please note that these are all methods that have helped me in the past at different times, so I am sure of them, and did not just copy them from somewhere online.

1.  Eat Three Eggs a Day
Eat it boiled, friend with noodles, scrambled with yam...any way you like it, but try to ingest at least 3 eggs a day. You do know that eggs are meant to form chicks (baby chickens), now think of all the nutrients that would be parked in a food like that. If you eat at least 3 eggs a day, for 3 weeks, you will surely add weight.

2.  Exercise
Yea, overweight people might use exercise to lose weight, but skinny people can also use different forms of exercise to gain weight. This method would work better for males than for females though. What you would be doing are a set of exercises that would help you build muscles in a short while. So, here, the weight you would be gaining would be muscles, not fat.

Over the years, there are two types of exercises I have know which help build muscle very fast, even if you are very skinny- they are push ups, and the plank exercise. I am sure you know push-ups/press-ups. What you do with push-ups to do a total of 100 every day. This will help build your arms, abs, and chest. You don't have to do 100 at a go. You can do 4 sets of 25, and rest at each interval. Or you can even do 10 sets of 10 push-ups. Just make sure you do it every morning.

Then you add the plank exercise to your routine. The plank helps you build your legs, laps, arms, back, and shoulders. This two types of exercise are a super combo in gaining muscles fast. Oh, I forgot not everyone knows about the plank. How do you do it. You lie flat on the ground (face down), and then you lift/balance your weight with your elbows and toes (as you can see in the picture), and stay in that position for just 60 seconds. Please, don't underestimate the simplicity of these excises. They will help you build muscles fast, thereby making you add weight. Please note that you would eat more than usual during this exercise regime, because your body will require more food for the new muscles you have built.

3.  GOMAD (Gallon of Milk a Day)
Yea, go mad with GOMAD, and you are sure to see results in a matter of 2-3 weeks. This is the easiest means of gaining weight, but it may cost you a little. A gallon of milk is 4 liters of milk. How I do it is to divide my intake between morning time, afternoon, and night time. I get a big bowl and pour two liters of water in it, and then pour put about 10 spoons of powder milk in it. Mix it, and then put it in 4 small bottles of 50 cl. That would add up to 2 liters. I keep in the fridge and take at different times of the day. When it is finished, around afternoon, I repeat what I did earlier (with the 2 liters in a bowl), and then continue till I finish taking 4 liters in a day.

Milk contains most of the nutrients your body needs to grow; why do you think infants can live on milk alone for 6 months. And think of how fast calves grow from sucking just their mama cow's breast milk. Oh yea, make sure the milk is Whole Milk (another name for it is Full Cream Milk). Just make sure it is either Peak, or Loya Milk. Yea, Hollandia Milk is also Full Cream Milk. Do this for about four weeks and you are sure to gain weight.

4.  Mixture of Milk and Malt Drink
Yea, this is another magic formula. Take a bottle of Maltina or Malta Guinness, and mix with a can of evaporated milk. Steer it well, and take it down in one go. Do this every day for 2-3 weeks, and not only will you add weight, you will also look fresher than ever.

Pick ONE of this methods, and do everything I say on concerning them, and you are sure to gain weight in a matter of weeks. I wish you all the best.

3 Weird Traits of Most Geniuses

$

You would see I said "most," not all. Through my research, and using myself as a guinea pig (yes, I consider myself a genius too), I have come to notice some distinct traits that are common with most geniuses. By the way, according to Webster online dictionary, a genius is anexceptionally intelligent person or one with exceptional skills in an area of activity. So, please, don't look at a genius as just someone like Albert Einstein. There are literary geniuses like William Shakespeare and Chimamanda Adichie, or you could be an entrepreneurial genius like Warren Buffet. Geniuses are found in all works of life.

Anyway, today, I am going to be looking at the dark side of geniuses people don't look at. Thorns might surround a beautiful rose, but it doesn't reduce the beauty of the rose. I believe it even enhances the rose's beauty. This is why believe people need to understand that intelligent people, great people, geniuses have some weird, maybe dark traits common to them, which a normal person might find repulsive, but it is part of what enhances the creations of these geniuses.

3.  They are Reclusive
Yep! Most geniuses are reclusive. Some might party every now and then, but mostly, because they are introverts, they need time away from the crowd to recharge. So, they might party for a weekend, and then disappear for weeks. They prefer to spend more time alone, working on their new invention/book, or just sitting alone, thinking of that new breakthrough idea.

2.  They are Mostly Men with High Sex Drive
Yea, I know that might sound funny to you, but it really true. Napoleon Hill studied hundreds of successful people for more than a decade before he wrote his great book, Think and Grown Rich, and he came up with this assertion. He even dedicated a whole chapter (Mystery of Sexual Transmutation) to this theory. This is what he had to say about great men and sex drives-

"Scientific research has discovered these significant facts: 1. The men of greatest achievement are men with highly developed sex natures- men who have learned the art of sex transmutation. 2. The men who have accumulated great fortunes and achieved outstanding recognition in literature, art, industry, architecture, and the professions, were motivated by the influence of a woman...

Sex energy is the creative energy of all genius. THERE NEVER HAS BEEN, AND NEVER WILL BE A GREAT LEADER, BUILDER, OR ARTIST LACKING FORCE OF SEX." - Napoleon Hill

Based on my own personal research, i concur with his theory. Just take a look at some of our own great men in Nigerian history- Fela Kuti, MKO Abiola, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, King Sunny Ade, Flavour, etc. Most of these men I mentioned are/were great in their respective fields, and they all have one thing in common...they all have/had high sex drive.

1.  They are Usually Fighting one Mental Illness or the Other
Yes, once again, this may sound odd, and unbelievable, but history shows most great men/geniuses to have suffered or suffer from one mental illness or the other. When people hear mental illness, they automatically think of a mad man/woman walking naked on the streets. But, there are really milder mental illnesses that people overlook, which affect people (especially great people) on a daily basis. Really, to think and achieve things outside the box, you would probably experience some conditions 'outside the box' too.  You get it?

The great Abraham Lincoln was said to have battled depression the most part of his life. Michael Jackson, who is considered by many the greatest musician of our time, suffered with depression till his death. All you have to do is to read the biographies of these great men to get a bigger picture of what I am talking about. These are a list of some mental disorders some of the geniuses/great men suffered from- Anxiety and Panic Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Depression, Suicidal Thoughts, Substance Abuse and Addiction, Insomnia, etc.

One of the greatest boxers of all time, Muhammad Ali died two days ago (June 3rd, 2016), at the age of 74.. May his soul rest in peace. Apart from being a great boxer, he was also very good with entertaining his fans during his fights. This is one of the reasons why he was more than just a boxer. Today, I have taken time to compile 5 things you might not know about the great Muhammad Ali.

1.  He Was Married 4 Times
Even though, through the first few years of his boxing career, he kept no female company, and never was once seen with women (some even thought he was gay), he ended up marrying 4 times. He is survived by 7 daughters and 2 sons.

2.  He Married His First Wife Within 4 Weeks of their First Meeting
At 22, in 1964, Ali he met cocktail waitress, Sonji Roi, and in approximately one month after their first meeting, they got married. But their marriage ended within two years. One of the reasons being  the fact that Sonji wasn't comfortable with some Muslim customs concerning female dressing.

3.  Muhammad Ali Changed His Name After Winning Sonny Liston in 1964
Ali became a Muslim and joined the Nation of Islam sometime in the early 60s. He kept this move silent for some years cos he wasn't sure how the news would affect his career, but when he won Sonny Liston and became the World Heaviest Champion in 1964, he let the world know his new religious views, and he turned his name first to Cassius  X, and then to Muhammad Ali. Before then, he had been going by his birth name, Cassius Clay.

4.  Muhammad Ali Won a Gold Medal at the 1960 Summer Olympics, at 18 Years Old
Before a young Cassius Clay became a pro boxer, he represented his country, U.S.A at the 1960 Summer Olympics, and won the gold medal in the Light Heavyweight boxing category at the Olympics. He was just 18 years old.

5.  Muhammad Ali Visited Nigeria in 1964
Shortly after defeating Sonny Liston and becoming the world heavy weight boxing champion, Muhammad Ali visited Nigeria. Checkout some of the pictures of a 22 year old Muhammad Ali in Nigeria back in 1964.

Top 7 Biggest Black Superheroes in the Movie World

It is not everyday you see a black superhero on the big screen, so today, I have decided to celebrate some of the biggest black superheroes in Movie history. Okay, lets jump off right away. Yea, this is a top 7 list of the biggest black superheroes in movie world.

7.  Nick Fury
He is one of the top agents at S.H.I.E.L.D, and played by none other than Samuel L. Jackson. He first appeared in the first Iron Man movie, and has gone on to appear in most of the major Avengers related superhero movies, from Thor to Captain America movies. He has no real superhuman powers, but is a war veteran that acts as the director of SHIELD, an international intelligence agency.

6.  War Machine
Mostly acting as a stand-in for Iron Man, War Machine gained popularity for having a bigger and meaner suit than Iron Man, and being more serious and combat ready. War Machine is played by Don Cheadle, and the character was officially introduced to the big screen in Iron Man 3 (2013), and has gone on to appear in Avengers: Age Of ultron (2015), and Captain America: Civil War (2016).

5.  Storm
Storm, A.K.A Ororo Monroe first appeared on the big screen when Halle Berry played the part in the first X-Men movie in 2000. As one of the X-Men (well, technically speaking, she is an X-Woman. lol!), she is a mutant with special powers. She can control the weather and throw lightening bolts at her enemies. Storm is one of the first X-Men, but even at that she never really enjoyed major screen time like Wolverine, Cyclops, and Jean Grey.

4.  Black Panther
I predict this superhero is going to be one of the biggest black superheroes in years to come, thanks to Marvel. He is also one of the Avengers, and made his debut on the big screen with Captain America: Civil War). The role was played by Chadwick Boseman. Black Panther is the prince/king of a mythical African kingdom called Wakanda. The nation is a hidden kingdom with advanced technology that could benefit mankind. Black Panther has a suit/costume that enhances his human abilities, and it is also bullet proof.

I said that he is going to be one of the biggest black superheroes in the years to come because Marvel is planning a standalone movie for the superhero character in 2018. Yea, you heard that right, it has already been announced by Marvel. Chadwick Boseman is going to star in his own movie, not feature as a supporting actor. I am really excited for the character. Black Panther played a vital role in Captain America: Civil War, a movie that has gone on to make $400 million domestically in the U.S, and $1.1 billion worldwide. I guess Marvel thought it right to give Black Panther his own movie.

3.  Falcon
He first appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014, and has appeared in every Avengers related movie since then...from Ant Man, to Avengers: Age of Ultron, to Captain America: Civil War. Although he is a part of a team and not a major superhero, he has played major parts in the Avengers movies so far, and might get a stand alone movie soon. The role is played by the talented, Anthony Mackie, and all the movies that have had the superhero, Falcon in it have been big budget movies that did very well at the box office.

2.  Hancock
With a budget of $150 million, this was definitely a big budget movie. And it sure didn't do badly at the cinemas; making $227,000 at the box office two months after its release in 2008. Will Smith played the role of Hancock, a superhero with super powers, flying abilities, and fast healing abilities too. I think this is one of the biggest stand alone black superheroes that has ever been on the big screen.

1.  Blade
Yea, this is the biggest black superhero movie ever brought to the big screen so far. The Blade trilogy was acted by Wesley Snipes, and it sure was a success at the box office. Blade was adapted to movie from Marvel's Blade comics. A day-walking vampire who fights other vampires, and protects humans from vampires. With his guns, sharp sword, and professional martial arts skills, Blade dazzled viewers for years from 1998-2004.

How Agege Bread Hawker (Jumoke Orisaguna) Turned to a Sought After Model Overnight

I have always believed that nothing is impossible. Also, I have the belief that truth is actually stranger than fiction. Even with that belief, my mind is still boggled by the story of this Agege bread seller who's life became transformed in a matter of weeks after accidentally walking into an ongoing photo shoot. Before I go on, for those that don't live in Lagos- Agege Bread is a actually a special type of bread sold in Lagos, which is known for its very soft and heavy nature.

3 weeks ago, British rapper (with Nigerian roots), Tinie Tempah came to the country for some business and decided to do a photo shoot. He called on the assistance of musician turned photographer, TY Bello to handle the shoot. Instead of going to the the finer parts of Lagos, TY decided to go to the ever busy streets of not so suburbia Yaba. As TY Bello narrated in her series of Instagram posts on this story, she said she was busy taking shots of Tinie Tempah on the streets of Lagos when Jumoke Orisaguna accidentally walked into the shoot. Tinie Tempah, being a resident of London was fascinated by how the slim lady managed to balance a stack of loafs of bread on her head and still walk majestically. While looking in awe at the lady, TY saw it as a perfect shot, and she clicked away.

After sharing some of the finished products of the Tinie Tempah photo shoot on her Instagram, a lot of people started asking about the bread seller, and wanting to know if she was a model. The red and white colors of her dress must have caught their eye. And also the fact that it looked very artistic to have a man looking at a woman walking down the streets with a rack of bread on her head. The picture started trending, and TY Bello had to locate the girl. When she did find the girl (after a few days) she invited her over to her studio for a proper photo shoot, which ended up being used on the cover of a popular Nigerian magazine- This Day Style. Things picked up from there.

After the This Day cover, Jumoke got signed by a Modeling Agency (Few Modeling Agency); she got featured in numerous local and foreign magazines and websites, and now, there is about to be a special on her on CNN. Whoa! All in a matter of weeks. It is really mind boggling. I know her head would still be spinning right now. I don't even think she knows the gravity of what has happened to her life...how it has changed forever. In January she would have never thought in a million years her life would be where it is right now. Olajumoke Orisaguna just went from a bread seller to a highly demanded model. She just became a celebrity, overnight.

Below is a picture of her (Jumoke Orisaguna) with her 14 year old daughter- the shot was taken by professional photographer, TY Bello.

Below is a picture of her and the lady that made it all happen, Photographer, TY Bello.

And below are some more shots from the TY Bello photo session with Jumoke Orisaguna; the bread seller turned model.

Top 6 Religions of the World

$

0
When you ask a layman on the street to name the religions he knows, the two that would immediately pop out of his mount would be Christianity, and Islam. After which he would go, 'Ehhhhh' and look up in the sky like the answer would drop from the clouds. Most people don't know that there are more than a dozen religions in the world, and Christianity and Islam put together represent only half the religions of the 7.5 billion people on Earth. I have put together this article to shed some light on some of the other religions of the world. So, below is the top 6 religions of the world, with size (population) as the criteria.

6.  Judaism
Judaism is the religion of the Jews (The Israelites from the Bible). More or less, Judaism came before Christianity, and Christianity was birthed from Judaism. This is why the Torah (the Jewish holy book is part of the Old Testament). Or put in a better way, early Christians put the Jewish scriptures (the Torah at the beginning of the old testament, as they basically believe in the same thing. By the way, the Torah is the Five Books of Moses- Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.

When Jesus Christ came on the scene, another religion was formed from Judaism, which is Christianity. Till this day, Jews don't believe Jesus was the Messiah. Judaism is practiced by 14 million people in the world. As Jews can be found all over the world, Judaism is practiced in most parts of the world, but majorly in Israel and the United States of America.

5.  Sikhism
This religion originated in Pujab region of Asia (partly modern day India and Pakistan) back in the 15th century. It is a monotheistic religion, and somehow similar to Buddhism in its belief of one creator, unity and equality of all humankind, and engaging in selfless service. There about 25 million Sikh people all over the world, mostly in India, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Australia, East Africa, and Canada. Male Sikh's usually wear turbans and have long beard. As they migrated a lot in the 19th century, they are found in many nations of the world. Male Sikhs have over the years gained a reputation for being very hardworking, extremely brave, and adventurous.

4.  Buddhism
Have you ever heard of a Buddhist Monk? I am sure you have. Buddhism doesn't end in the temple of monks. There are actually over 380 million people in the world that practice the Buddhist religion. This makes the religion the 4th most practiced religion in the world. Like the Sikhism religion, it also originated from Asia, India to be precise.

The Buddhist religion is based on the teachings of the Buddha, who is believed to have lived between the 6th and 4th century BCE. There has been arguments on whether Buddhism is a religion or a philosophy because of the way many people from other religions borrow many of their practices, like meditation and the journey to enlightenment. Celebrities like Richard Gere and Russell Simmons are many of the celebrities that have made the religion popular to an extent.

3.  Hinduism
This is yet another religion that originated from Asia, and is mostly practiced in the region. But unlike most religions, Hinduism has no founder, no single scripture, and no commonly agreed forms of teachings. The religion is mostly practiced in India and Nepal, and there are over 900 million Hindus in the world. Considering the fact that India has a population of 1.2 billion and most of that population practice Hinduism, it shouldn't be surprising that there are close to a billion Hindus in the world, even though they don't travel around the world trying to get new converts like some other popular religions do.

Some scholars have described Hinduism as a fusion of various Indian cultures and traditions, with diverse roots. Most researchers believe it is the oldest religion in the world. Hindu practices include rituals such as Puja (worship) and recitation, meditation, family-orientated rights of passage, annual festivals, and occasional pilgrimages. Like most Asian religions, Hindus are very simple people, who sometimes leave their social worlds and material possessions, and engage in lifelong ascetic practices to achieve Moksha- which refers to various forms of liberation, freedom, and emancipation.

2.  Islam
The second most practiced religion in the world is Islam. There are virtually Muslims (adherents of Islam) in almost all parts of the world, but they are more concentrated in the Middle East, Northern Africa, and some parts of Asia. In a way, Islam and Christianity have many things in common, especially from the Christian Bible's old testament. Names were changed in the Qua-ran, but it is basically mostly the same stories about the same people in both books/religions. The religion was originated and made popular by prophet Muhammad. Islam originated in Mecca (part of present day Saudi Arabia) in the 7th century, and gained worldwide recognition between the 8th and 13th century. Today, there are over 1.5 billion Muslims all over the world. One of the beliefs of Muslims is in the oneness of God, as opposed the Christians trinity belief.

1.  Christianity
This is the most popular religion in the world. There are various arms of Christianity, from the Catholics, to the Anglicans, to the Baptists, to the Methodists, to the New Age etc. Christians place of worship is called a Church, and Christians believe in the trinity of the supreme- that is, that there is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God the Son, Jesus Christ supposedly lived 2,000 years ago, and most Christians fashion their lives towards how he lived, and the teachings he shared.

Like Islam, it is an Abrahamic Monotheist religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. There are over 2.2 billion Christians the world over, and this number keeps growing everyday with new converts. Christianity is more or less an offspring of Judaism that grew bigger than what it branched out from.

Is It Possible for a Man and a Woman to be Just Friends?

$

Yea, that's the question of the day; Is it possible for a man and woman to be just friends? Is it possible for a man and a woman to be just friends without some form of emotions creeping in? Nope...I don't think so. Well, that's just me, but I will speak on why I think it is impossible.

Throw a woman and a man in house, and restrict them from leaving the premises for one month. It is almost guaranteed that they would start to develop strong feelings for each other, even if they never found each other attractive the first time they saw each other. This is the same reason why there is a lot of sleeping around among coworkers; being in close proximity with someone day in day out over a long period of time makes people develop feelings for each other.

I remember one time last year, I was in a bus heading home and there was this man and woman sitting beside me. From their conversation, I got to realize that they were friends that worked in the same establishment and went home together, daily. The man was married, the lady on the other hand was single. Although they tried to keep their conversation very light, it was obvious to the discerning eyes that they had developed strong feelings for each other. Just before they dropped, the lady complained that she had been having problems removing her necklace and asked the man to help her. As the man fondled with the neckpiece, I wonder if the man knew what he was getting himself into.

I just don't think a man and a woman can be friends. I see that as someone having a pet chicken; he/she is going to eat that chicken one day. Don't get me wrong; I am not talking of very casual friends that see each other at the bar or on the streets every now and then. I am talking about a man and woman that see each other and hangout quite often.

As Harry said in the classic Meg Ryan movie from the 80s (When Harry Met Sally) 'men and women can't be just friends because the sex part always gets in the way.' This doesn't mean that all men and women that are or were friends usually end up having sex, but both parties would be lying if they said they never thought about it...and this is the major problem. The guy starts thinking maybe he should make a move, sometimes confusing the way the girl acts comfortable around him for flirting. And the girl might not want that at all. Most times, girls like to have a boyfriend they have all the emotional ups and downs with, and then that male friend they can just be on a platonic level with, and discuss some of their problems and deep secrets with. I guess it gives them a balance.

With all these said, I am not an sociologist, I am just speaking on my personal experience, those of my close friends, and those of strangers I have watched from afar. So, you don't have to agree with anything I said in this article.

Countries With the Lowest Age of Consent in the World

What is the meaning of age of consent? It is the legally defined age at which a person is deemed legally competent to consent to sexual activity. Do you know what statutory rape means? It means, if you as an adult have sexual relations with someone who is not up to the age of consent of the country you are in, you can be charged to court for statutory rape. Yep! Even if the girl looks like an adult, and willingly had sex with you, you would have committed a crime. So, today, I decided to look into the list of countries with the lowest age of consent around the world.

Most nations have age of consent between 16 and 18 years of age, but there are some that go really low...as low as 14. Those are the ones I would be listing today. Checkout the list below.

Britain- 16

Norway- 16

Switzerland- 16

France- 15

Denmark- 15

Greece- 15

Croatia- 15

Hungary- 14

Estonia- 14

Italy- 14

Portugal- 14

Germany- 14

Colombia- 14

Brazil- 14

China- 14

Japan- 13

Niger- 13

Burkina Faso- 13

Yippee! I just realized this is my 100th post on this blog. I think I will drink a bottle to that tonight. It ain't easy to have a blog reach 100 post of 90% originally written content.

Top 5 Oldest Presidents in the World

As Charles Caleb Colton said, 'Power will intoxicate the best hearts, as wine the strongest heads. No man is wise enough, nor good enough to be trusted with unlimited power.' This is very true. That is why all but one of the people on my list of oldest presidents in the world have held the position for more than ten years.

Below is the list of top 5 oldest presidents in the world.

5.  Abdelaziz Bouteflika (Algeria)
Bouteflika was born 2nd March, 1937. He is 79 years old and has been the president of Algeria since 1999. Like former president Olusegun Obasonjo of Nigeria, he fought for a third term in 2006 after his two terms in office. But unlike Obasonjo, he won the bid, and went on to win the elections. He even stretched things further by fighting for a fourth term and again winning the bid. He has been ruling Algeria for 17 years now.

4.  Paul Biya (Cameroun)
At 83, Paul Biya has been Cameroun's president since 1982. That's 34 years long. African leaders just don't like giving up power for the younger generation.

3.  Raul Castro (Cuba)
Raul took over power in 2008 as Cuba's president when his brother, Fidel's health got really bad. He is 85 years old and the way things are going, he might still be the president of Cuba in his 90s.

2.  Beji Caid Essebsi (Tunisia)
President Beji Caid Essebsi is the second on our list. In 2014, Essebsi won the first regular presidential elections following the Tunisian revolution, becoming Tunisia's first freely elected president.  He is 89 years old.

1.  Robert Mugabe (Zimbabwe)
The Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe is numero uno on our list. He is 92 years old. 8 years more and the man will be 100 years old. That's scary. The controversial president has held that position since 1987, 29 years ago.

I brought you a list of the oldest presidents in the world a couple of days ago. It is only right that I also post an article with the youngest presidents in the world. Check the list out below.

3.  Joseph Kabila (D.R Congo)- 45
He became the president of D.R Congo after the assassination of his father in January of 2001. At the time, he was just 29 years old.

2.  Atifete Jahjaga (Kosovo)- 41
Yea, she ended her time in office last month, but I began research for this article months ago, so I just have t put her in the list. Atifete Jahjaga was the president of Kosovo from April 7th, 2011- April 7th, 2016. She was just 35 when she became the president of Kosovo. For those that don't know the country, Kosovo is in Southeast Europe, and it broke away from Serbia in 2008. Yea, it is also the birth place of British singer, Rita Ora.

1.  Kim Jung-Un (Supreme Leader of North Korea)- 32
Yea, we all know the controversial Kim Jung-Un; the supreme leader of North Korea. He is the youngest leader in the world. Like Kabila, he also became the head of his country after the demise of his father; he was just 27 at the time.

Top 5 Richest Women in the World (2016)

As there are rich men, there are also rich women too. Of cos, their are more wealthy men than women, but women ain't doing badly in the financial world too. So, today, I have decided to showcase to you in this article, the top 5 richest women in the world.

5.  Susanne Klatten
The German lady got her wealth by inheritance after her father died. She inherited his 50.1% stake in Pharmaceutical and Chemicals manufacturer, Altana. She also inherited her late father's 12.5% stake in German car company, BMW. These and many more put Susanne Klatten's net worth at $18.5 billion presently. She is 54 years old.

4.  Maria Franca Fissol
At 99, she is the oldest on our list. Maria is the widow of Michele Ferrero, founder of Ferrero SpA, Europe's second largest confectionery company. If you know Nutella, know this woman's company makes it. The Italian woman has a net worth of $22.1 billion.

3.  Jacqueline Mars
Who doesn't know Mars Chocolate? Twix, Mars Bars, M&M's, Skittles, Snickers... Her grandfather founded Mars, Incorporated in 1911. The company produces all those chocolate varieties I listed above. They have kept the company successful and within the family for over a hundred years. You know, some times, when I think about these cocoa related companies, and realize they get their major raw material (Cocoa) from Africa, I wonder...What is wrong with the black man? Why can't he be as advanced as the white man. Anyway, that's a discussion for another article.

Jacqueline Mars is 76 years old, and has a net worth of $23.4 billion as of June 2016. She is an American.

2.  Alice Walton
Alice is yet another person on our list who inherited her wealth. She is the daughter of Wal Mart founder, Sam Walton. Wal Mart chain of stores across America and the world brought her her wealth; a net worth of $32.3 billion. As of April 2016, Walmart has 11,527 stores and clubs in 28 countries. That is one heck of a chain of stores.

Alice Walton is 66 years old and she is an an American.

1.  Liliane Bettencourt
The French woman is one of the major shareholders of L'Oreal, a French cosmetics company. It is the world's largest cosmetics company. You can't tell me you haven't used or seen some of their lipsticks or skin care products in your household. According to Forbes, Liliane is currently the richest woman in the world. The 93 year old woman is worth $36.1.

How Linda Ikeji Makes Her Millions

It is hard for a lot of people to believe that Blogging can pay someone so much money without any other illegal or illicit moves on the side. People find it hard to believe that Linda Ikeji, without a 'brick and mortar' office can buy a half a billion house in Banana Island.'No, she must be a runs girl on the side.' A lot of people say while gossiping with friends. Truth be told, the girl makes between 30-40 million Naira monthly. #Fact.

I know it is hard to believe, but you have to know she has the most popular and most visited blog in Nigeria. With over half a million pageviews daily. Traffic=Money. She makes a sh^t load of money from the Ads placed on her Blog by advertisers. I want to take time out to speak on the intricate details of how she actually makes so much money.

 Let's jump right in.

The Total Page Takeover
As the name implies, this Ad on Linda's blog site is when the advertiser takes over the whole background of Linda's blog for one full month. A school in Abuja had the whole of last month and I think the month before, but I don't think she has gotten a new client for the month of July. So, if you go on her blog now (Tuesday, 5th July, 2016), you would see the background is plain red. That is the natural background of her blog when she doesn't have any Ad on it. The total page takeover cost N4,000,000 per month.

Top Leaderboard Ad Unit
This is another money maker for her. Last year, Jumia paid for twelve months straight for one of the Leaderboard Ads at the top of Linda's blog. Each Leaderboard Ad unit cost One Million Naira a month. She has two up right now (that's N2,000,000), and some times, she would have as much as 4 up there. You can see examples of the Ad unit below. This pictures of her blog was taken this morning. You can see they are two leaderboard Ad units in the picture below. One by MTN and the other by First Bank Nigeria.

Side Banners
Side banners are the Banner Ad units on each side of Linda Ikeji's blog. They fluctuate between a total of 20-25 at each given time. Right now, they are a total 23 rectangular banner Ads  on each side of her blog. I will break all of them down to how much they generate in revenue for her.

-Top Side Banners
The top right and the top left banners are more expensive than the rest cos they are the first side banners you see. They go for N500,000 monthly. They are two, so that makes it a total of N1,000,000 from these two Ad units in a month.

-Google Adsense Ad Units (4 rectangular Ad units)
Google Adsense is a program Google has with Bloggers/Web Site Owners, where you get paid for placing Ads on their blog. You can place a total of 3-4 Ads all over your blog, and you get paid per click or per impression. If we are working on per impression, you get paid $1 for every 1,000 pageviews you get on your blog. Linda gets 15,000,000 page views per month on her blog, which brings her revenue to about $15,000 dollars a month. Using N300 to a dollar, that's N4,500,000 a month from Google Adsense earnings.

Below is an example of the Google Ad units on her blog. You can identify them with the light blue signs on the top right corner of the Ads.

-Other Side Banners
The other side banners on her Blog apart from the ones mentioned above cost N400,000 a month. They are a total of 15 on the blog as of the time of posting this article. Do the math, and you will come to a total of N6,000,000 monthly from this. Below are some examples of the other side banners.

There is another category of side Ad units, which are the two Linda Caller Tunes banners (one on each side of the blog) on her blog. But the way she makes money from these Ads are not clear, so I can's speak on them. Below is an example of the Linda Ikeji Caller Tunes banner on her Blog.

One Off Guest Posts
This is another big money maker for Linda. Musicians, companies, entrepreneurs, small businesses want to advertise their new and existing products, and some use Linda's one off guests posts. This way, they write an article about the product, and pay for it to appear on Linda's Blog as a post. Upcoming musicians also use this medium to showcase their new songs or videos. It is relatively cheap compared to the others, and it benefits both parties involved. Linda makes cool N50,000 from a guest post, and the clients enjoy the advantage of their products being exposed to over 150,000 people for that day.

Linda does about 8-12 guest post Ads each and every day. You can verify this by yourself. Just go on her blog and check through the guests posts of the day. I started writing this article around 10 am today, and she already had 4 guests posts up as of today. That is N200,000 in revenue already today. Before the end of today she would have nothing less than 10 guest posts up on her blog- that is a cool N500,000 in the  bank in a day;  And N15,000,000 in thirty days.

Below are some examples of guests posts on her Blog. The first three are from this morning, and the remaining two are from yesterday.

So, let's add up. 4+2+1+4.5+6+15=32.5

Yup! Plus or minus, Linda Ikeji makes about N32.5 million Naira from her Blog (lindaikejisblog.com) monthly. Everything I said in this post is verifiable. Just go to her blog, check the left side, you will see a small box with a phone number to call if you want to place Ads on her Blog. Call and find out the amount for each Ad unit, and crosscheck with what I have listed in this article.

Top 5 Nigerian Celebrity Breakups

So sad how fast love can turn to hate. I guess the saying 'there is a thin line between love and hate' really is true. Today I would be showcasing a list of Nigerian celebrity couples that broke up after the world thought they were going to be together forever. Let's get right to it.

5.  Jim Iyke and Nadia Buari
Although Nadia Buari is Ghanaian, she was very prominent in Nollywood movies in the past and still continues to appear in Nollywood movies till this day. Jim Iyke and Nadia Buari were Nollywood sweethearts when they dated between 2013-2014. They were even engaged at some point. But it all ended in 2014.

4.  Ice Prince and Maima
This is another Nigerian-Ghanaian connection. Ice Prince is a Nigerian rapper, and Maima is a sexy Ghanaian video vixen that spends more of her time in Nigeria than in Ghana. Ice and Maima dated for a while through the early part of 2015, until one day when news of her cheating on him with an Abuja big boy hit the internet. Even after picture evidence of Maima and the guy in several places together hit the Internet, Ice Prince still stood up for his girl. But some time this year, he secretly ended the relationship with Maima.

3.  Saheed and Fathia Balogun
These two were married for a whole 7 years (they separated in 2006). Fathia still uses Saheed's last name even though they have been celebrated for more than 9 years now. Saheed a great actor and movie producer in the Nigerian Yoruba movie scene, and Fathia a lovable actress in the same industry. They had two kids while together.

2.  9ice and Toni Payne
9ice quickly rose to fame in the music industry in 2007. The juice behind him was none other than his manager, Toni Payne. She gave him all the push he needed for success, and his talent did the rest of the work. They fell in love along the way, and in 2008, they got married. Two years later, shortly after the birth of their son, Zion, they were separated.

1.  Tiwa Savage and Teebillz
This is definitely the most controversial breakup on our list. Tiwa Savage is most definitely the biggest female artist in Nigeria. Like 9ice, she also got a lot of help from her manager on her come up. She later fell in love with that manager (Teebillz- Tunji Balogun), and sometime in 2014, they got married in Dubai. Their wedding ceremony still is one of the biggest celebrity weddings in Nigerian history. They were the Jay Z and Beyonce of Nigeria. Two years down the line, and they are separated. From the 45 minutes long interview Tiwa gave Pulse in aApril of this year, she revealed things had already ended between her and Teebilz a year into the wedding.

She had caught him doing cocaine; he had been stealing from her as a manager and she had to fire him; he had also been cheating on her with an 'edible caterer.'Teebillz side of the story was that she cared more about her career than their marriage, and that she never cooked for him. They have one child together; a son called Jamil.

3 Free Ways to Make Money Online in Nigerian

$

Today I would be listing three free ways to make money online as a Nigerian, living in Nigeria. There a lot of articles online that talk about how one can make money online, but when you follow most of them, you find out they are too hard and complex, or the systems don't really favor Nigerians. I have been making money online since 2011. Yea, I have had money management problems, and have been a bit complacent with my business over the years, which has affected my growth in a negative way, but this ain't about me. Take the message, don't worry about the messenger. I have experimented with all the systems I will be listing in this article, and they work. Till this day, I still make money from all of the three ways I am going to be listing, so I ain't selling you a pipe dream. This is a real means to make legit money. It might not be hundreds of thousands, but a couple of tens of thousands in the bank ain't bad, don't you think?

If you ain't lazy (like I can be sometimes) and you focus on anyone of the money making systems I would be listing below, you would be making a couple of tens or hundreds of dollars passive income in about two months, or even two weeks, depending on which of the systems you decide to follow. Please note that this is not a get rich quick scheme; YOU HAVE TO WORK LONG HOURS TO MAKE THE MONEY. But it is 100% guaranteed that you would make money.

I would do my best in explaining them, but I don't know if I can be extensive enough. So, I would advise that you ask me questions in the comment section. I would answer every single question to the best of my abilities, and would never ever ask you to buy any book or pay me any money. Okay...let's get right to it.

1.  Kindle eBook Business
This business is all about selling eBooks online via Amazon. There is a program Amazon has with authors and publishers called KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing), where Amazon acts as a publishing house, and you can upload your manuscript/book to their website, and they help you market it to their millions of customers for a fee. Depending on how much you price the book, Amazon will get either a 30% commission or a 65% commission, and you get the rest. If you ask me, that is a fair deal considering all the marketing Amazon will be doing for you. Kindle is a device which is used to read eBooks. It is a like a small tab, or a big phone. The books you will be publishing would be read mostly on this tab, and other online reading devices (like smartphones).

Okay, right now, I hear some people saying 'but I can't write a book. I am not an author.' If you attended secondary, even if you didn't finish secondary school, you can write a book. Everybody knows something, and that thing you know, some people might not know. So, why not write it down, put it into chapters, and publish it online. As I said early, I can't totally go into every tiny detail of the money making systems I will be listing, but you are free to ask me further questions in the comment section. I would just try my best to explain how the money can be made and the potential of the money that can be made. I would say this is the biggest market to make money online right now, and it is limitless. And it is quite simple to upload books onto the Amazon system. Once you write your book (divided into chapters) via Microsoft word, you register at kdp.com for free, and then log into your account. You will see a box on the screen with 'create new title' written in it; click on it and follow the simple instructions. It is very self explanatory.

About types of books to write? Go to Google.com and search for Amazon bestsellers. Click on the first link at the top of the search results, and then on the left side of the page it takes you to, click on Kindle Store, and then click on 'Kindle eBook's on the next page you are taken to. Take time to study the top 100 bestselling books and the niches they fall into, then study the niches and sub-niches that have the most bestselling books. This is where you will find books that are selling, and those are the type of books you should write. Those are the niches you should write in. Stick to non-fiction books; you can sell better as a nobody in this area. Also, your books should have American author names. You are allowed to use pen-names, so instead of using, Chigozie Ugwu, you can use Bob D Jones or something of the nature.

Trust me you can write in any genre/niche; just make Google your best friend, and do extensive research. For pointers, some of the best niches to write in include; self-help (weight loss, motivational books, sexual instruction books, law of attraction books, fitness), Recipe books, cookbooks, religion, etc. Do your own research for better understanding.

How much can you make from this and how do you get your money? I have spent too much time on this particular money making system and I would be as brief as possible with this. Just know that you can put up as many books as you want in a week. So, it really depends on how fast you can write. Your books don't have to be too long; most of mine are 3,000-5,000 words. That's about 11-18 pages on Microsoft word. And I price my books at $2.99. Amazon will get their 30% share, afterwards I get my 70% (about $2). The very first month I started this, I sold 4 copies of my first and only book on Amazon at the time (Cure Premature Ejaculation), and I made $8. Yea, it was small, but I was so happy. I mean, after I put up the book, I didn't do any other thing...Amazon did all the marketing for me. I made money when I slept. That is just one book. If you are dedicated and can put up 5 short books a month, in three months, you would have about 15 books, and would be making at least $100 or more in passive income. There is nothing sweeter than passive income cos you get to earn money over and over, from work you did once. In this case, your book will keep selling, month after month.

Oh yea, one more thing; Amazon pays you your royalties after two months. That is, if you start this month (July), you will be paid your July earnings by the end of September. They will send you a check in Dollars, and you can pay into your Domiciliary account. I think some Banks now have a service where you can pay in Dollar checks into your savings account. I think Access bank account has that.  Okay, I have officially spent too much time on this, ask me any further questions in the comment section. And yea, before I forget, you can make covers for your book via canva.com. It is a very easy to use website where you learn to make simple eBook covers.

2.  Blogging
Yea, I am sure you know about blogging. Ever since Linda Ikeji became a millionaire through blogging, everyone and their mamas wanna go into blogging. But I must say the market is not saturated yet; far from it. Why? Because everyone is trying to do exactly what Linda is doing, so they are opening Entertainment blogs, and reporting exactly the same news Linda is reporting. There is no way anyone would visit your blog when the person can read up the same news on Linda's blog. There are sooooo many niches left untapped. So many. Just think of some form of information that Nigerians would love to read about; if you find out there is not much information on that online, then you have your gold mine right there. It could be anything. I am telling you. I have a new blog on a certain place men like to visit and I am surprised at the amount of visits I get from just 4 posts.

Let me give you other hints. You can blog about bars and their locations in Lagos (or in the state you reside in), you can blog about boutiques to get the most quality affordable clothing in your state. You can blog about best Amala joints in Ibadan (or wherever you are based). You can blog about the best hospitals in your zone, or the best hairdressers, or beauticians. You can blog about just about anything, as long as you are sure there are people out there that would love to read what you are writing about. Just be creative, and think...THINK! You don't have to rush. You can use a week or even a month to think deeply on what you want your niche to be about.

'Okay, how do I make money,' I hear someone ask. Before I speak on that, know that to get a blog is totally free. Don't let anyone fool you. Just go to blogger.com and click on 'create a new blog' and follow the instructions. You will have your blog ready under 10 minutes. Make sure your blog url/name has a word in it that is related to what you write about. One of my blog's url/name is kaysrapzone.com. My first name is Kayode (full name is Kayode Olumide Abiodun Odusanya) and I write about rap music on that blog. Let me get back to how you make money. There is a program Google has called Google Adsense. They partner with bloggers and other publishers and share revenue from Ads placed on the blogger's blog. You would make a dollar for every thousand views you get on your blog. So, it is all about TRAFFIC. The more traffic you get, the more money you can get. It is that simple.

Of cos bigger blogs like lindaikejisblog.com also have direct Ads on their blog and make bigger money, but you need to have a sh^t load of traffic to get direct Ads from big companies in Nigeria. Before then, settle for Google Adsense. If you can get 100,000 pageviews on your blog in a month, you would make $100. Google will send you a check 30 days after the end of the month. So, if you get 20,000 pageviews from your new blog this month (July), Google will send you your estimated earnings of $20 via check by August month end. Simple. Before you apply for Adsense, please make sure you have at least 30 posts/articles on your Blog. If you don't understand any area I have spoken on, ask me a question in the comment section.

3. Information Marketing
This was my first means of making money online. I started this back in 2010, and perfected it in 2011. What is it all about. It is about identifying a problem, finding the solution and packaging it in a short eBook, and finding a way to advertise online for people that need the solution to see. Back in 2010, I found a solution to a sexual problem a lot of men have, I wrote a very short eBook on it (exactly 9 pages on Microsoft word) and started selling it for N3,000. At the time, I was advertising on Facebook. And I would sell 10-15 copies a week. After removing the cost for placing Ads on Facebook, I would left with about N22,000-N35,000 a week. It was the sweetest money I ever made at the time. I mean, I would be getting alerts while sleeping. There was a particular day I sold 10 copies of the book (N30,000 gross income in a day) and I was spending $5 (N750) on Ads per day at the time. Things changed when Facebook started disallowing Ads of a sexual nature. So, I looked for other means of reaching my large market.

Since I said I am going to be speaking on '3 FREE Ways to Make Money Online in Nigeria' I will explain how I still make money from selling my information product without spending money on Ads. Yea, you will spend a lot of time instead, but it will be worth it in the end. So, let me rush through the whole process from the start. First, you find a problem prevalent among Nigerians; it could be on how women can get a husband, or on how women can get pregnant, or how one can travel out of Nigeria...etc. Just be creative. After that, go find the solution to that problem. Google is your friend, and you can also ask around experts in the field in real life. After all your research, if you don't have a laptop, get an exercise book and write down your short book on the solution to the problem. You then take it to a business center to be typed, or you go to a cyber cafe and type by yourself. After that, save it on your laptop if you have on, or save it in your email address outbox/sent messages if you are using a Cyber Cafe.

Next thing, you open a blog (go to blogger.com- it is totally free). Make sure words of the problem you have written about are in the url of the blog you are opening. After this, write a sales letter on the blog. A sales letter is an advertisement of the product/book you want to sell. Get creative, and make your potential buyers believe you. At the end of the sales later (which should describe the product/eBook you are selling), put down your bank details, and ask anyone that is interested in the book to pay into the bank and that once they pay, they should alert you with a call or text message, after which you would send the book to their email address. Of cos we live in Nigeria, and a lot of people won't trust you. So, out of the 100 people that would see your Ad, maybe 1-2 will buy. But trust me, it is worth it.

So, how do you advertise your product without spend money? You indirectly advertise on Linda Ikeji's blog and on Nairaland. These are the two biggest social websites in the country. So how do you advertise on them? Let's start with Linda's blog. She posts at least 80 posts a day, or maybe even more, so you have to stay on her blog and comment on all those posts immediately after she posts a new article/news. After leaving a good comment related to the post, you post a link to your sales letter below comment. This is how you make the link clickable-

1.  Open a Microsoft word page on your laptop or desktop you are using.

2.  Copy and paste the code below in it-

<a href="URL">Title</a>

3.  Delete "URL" from the code above and put the url of your blog page/sales letter link in there.

4.  Delete Title from the code and type out whatever you want the link you want to be leaving on Linda's blog to read.

5.  Save it.

This is what you would be copying and pasting below all your comments on Linda's page. Please note that you can only do this on a Laptop or a Desktop, and not on a phone.

Is It a Must to Marry?

I just got off a date with a girl I got hooked up with by a mutual friend, and I feel so low in spirit. Every thing was going okay till she asked of my age. I told her, and the expression on her face was that of someone that had just seen an alien. Then came the endless questions..."Why ain't you married?""Why don't you have a steady girlfriend?""Why are you still single in your 30s?" Oh my God! I wanted to shoot myself. Why is it a must for a young man or woman to be married at a certain age in Africa? Yea, I know there are loads of benefits in marrying early. But what if the individual in question has some plans and has to sacrifice the beauty of early marriage for something else? Why must you make that person feel like there is something wrong with him or her?

I see it all the time online. Young successful ladies like Linda Ikeji, Rita Dominic, and Genevieve Nnaji get insulted a lot. They post a picture on Instagram, and then you see comments like..."Go and marry!""All these money doesn't mean anything if you don't have a husband.""Success without a man is useless." Blah! Blah! And some more Blah! Don't get me wrong, marriage is a beautiful thing, but no one should marry solely because society sees it as the thing to do at a certain age. And no one should be looked down on because he or she is not married at the age society has set for such.

Divorce rate is going through the roof in the country. Married women are sleeping around with no atom of guilt in them it's scary. Married men openly joke about their latest conquest and how big her boobs are. I am not saying all these to make myself feel better about being single. I am saying all these to say that it is really disturbing that society sees the single man/woman of marriageable age lower than all the people involved in the atrocities I mentioned above.

We are all different with different goals, and some situations might have left some people single in their 30s and 40s. And to some, it might just be a choice. Maybe the person has weighed the advantages and disadvantages of marriage and feels he/she would be distracted from his/her chief goal in life if he/she marries early. The person might have set '40' as the age to marry. Or the person doesn't even have marriage in the agenda at all. It is a freaking free world. So, I ask, is this so big of a deal? Is it a must to marry?

13 Things Nigerian Bachelors are Tired of Hearing

Yes, yes, I just had to write this. I, and I am sure the other Nigerian bachelors out there are tired of hearing some things from friends, family, and strangers. By the way, when I say Bachelor, I mean a man who is socially regarded as able to marry, but has not yet tired the knot. Okay, let's get right into it. Below are 13 things I am sure Nigerian bachelors are tired of hearing.

1.  You Mean You Don't Even Have a Girlfriend?
Hello!!! I just told you I am single...does being single have another meaning?

2.  Go and Marry
Oya, carry me to the alter and make sure you come with a bride. Marriage is not child's play, and the same people urging you on to marry will be the same people asking why you went and got married when you can't buy pampers for your child.

3.  What are You Waiting For?
I am waiting for you to hit me in the head with a stick so I wake up and realize that 'marriage is a must.' Of cos I know about the advantages of marriage, but I can't just jump into it if I am not ready.

4.  You Will Receive Blessing from God After You Marry
Hmm! Okay, maybe this might be true, but where will I get the money to feed the hundreds of people that would come for my wedding before God blesses me?

5.  Unmarried Men are Seen as Being Irresponsible
Okay. I am willing to live with that for now.

6.  When Are You Going to Marry?
Well, to be honest I don't know. But what I do know is that marriage is not something you just jump into.

7.  You Can't be Happy and Fulfilled Without Marriage
Says who? You?

8.  Do You Want to be Going for PTA Meetings in Your 50s?
Well, if it comes to that, I am sure I won't find any problem in doing so.

9.  Don't You Want to Enjoy Times with Your Grown Children While Still Young Yourself?
I get this from my friend Sola all the time. He keeps saying, won't you like to be in your mid 40s, looking sharp, and driving around town with your 19 year old son, looking like you are brothers. I can see how that can be appealing to some, but really, we all don't want the same things in life.

10.  Do You Want to be Looking for University Tuition Fees for Your Children in Your 60s?
If it comes to that, I won't have to look for, cos I am sacrificing not getting married right now so I can attain financial freedom. So, by then, I would even be able to sponsor 1,000 children through college if I wanted to.

11.  Marriage is the Ultimate Goal in Life
Oh, that's funny. Maybe that's why some people get divorced a few years after marriage. I guess after hitting the ultimate goal, they became complacent and stopped aspiring for anything else.

12.  You're Such a Great Guy...How Come You're Single?
Well, I choose to be single.

13.  If You Die Tomorrow, Your Linage Ends
I won't lie, this one kinda hits me hard. Of cos I want to have kids and have my lineage grow, and have a long family tree. But, really, I am willing to take the risk. So, if I do die before I get to have a child, so be it. At least I won't have lived a selfish life...I have given so much to this world in terms of books, articles, and blog posts, and they will live on and educate and entertain people born and yet unborn. My name will live on; that's for sure.

11 Things Nigerian Spinsters are Tired of Hearing

Okay, here I go again. Actually, I have gotten a lot of texts from girls after I posted an article this morning titled 13 Things Nigerian Bachelors are Tired of Hearing. I have learnt that females have it worse than us guys. So, I decided to write this article, based on what I learned from the the ladies that contacted me and from my own personally observations. Below are 7 things Nigerian spinsters are tired of hearing. 1,2, 3, GO!!! Wait, Hol'Up! I think I need to say something. I am not talking of the giant sized rat in the Ninja Turtle movie when i mention spinster. His name is Master Splinter. I am talking of an unmarried woman, typically an older woman beyond the usual age of marriage.

1.  Why Are You Still Single
She is single because she can't marry herself. What sort of insensitive question is that anyway.

2.  You Can't Give Birth After Menopause
She probably already knows that, so no need to remind her of that. Besides, child birth is still possible after menopause, it is just harder.

3.  Go and Marry
This is Nigeria, a country in West Africa, and we have not reached that point of social advancement where a woman can propose to a man. How do you expect her to just GO AND MARRY like that?

4.  All Your Success Doesn't Mean Anything If You are Not Married
Oh my. I just can't imagine what people like Rita Dominic and Linda Ikeji go through in the hands of cyber bullies that keep typing stuff like this on their social media pages. Why must marriage be the ultimate measure of success for a woman?

5.  You Don't Want to Have Children?
Maybe she wants to, maybe she doesn't. She is an adult and can make her own decisions. So, mind your own business.

6.  You Are So Beautiful, How Come You are Still Single?
Because she can't 'toast' herself.

7.  I've Got the Perfect Guy For You
Yea, right.

8.  Don't You Get Lonely
Everyone gets lonely at some point...married or unmarried.

9.  You Should Lower Your Standards
I remember why one of my friends stopped going to a particular church in my area. One day, there was a testimony about a lady who was looking for a husband. And the pastor asked her to marry the first person she sees when she opens the window the next morning. That person happened to be her gate-man, and she went and married him. We started calling that church OPEN THE WINDOW.

I am a firm believer in being humble at all times and never looking down on people. But, when we are talking about a marriage that is meant to last forever, the two parties involved should at least be compatible to a degree.

10. I Wish I Was Still Single
Most men just say this to make the girl lose her guard so they can get in her pants.

11. Have You Tried Online Dating?
Yea, she probably has, and she found out that like 80% of Nigerian men online are perverts and just want sex.

Top 6 Biggest Selling Movies of 2016 So Far

We have crossed the half-mark of the year, and I thought it would be cool to list the top 6 biggest selling movies of 2016 so far. By the way, when I say biggest selling, I mean highest grossing at the box office. The figures I used to rank them are based on global sales, and not American sales alone. Okay, let's kick off with number 6 on the list.

6.  Finding Dory ($644 million)
Coincidentally, I just watched this movie last night. It made me really long for its prequel, Finding Nemo, which is one of my best animation movies of all time. Dory played a major part in helping Nemo's Dad find Nemo in Finding Nemo, and in this movie, she is on a quest to find her own parents. A very funny and emotional movie. Ellen Degeneres is the one behind Dory's voice in the movie (and in Finding Nemow too). I think this (along with other elements) helped with the movie do so well. By the way, Finding Nemo is the 35th biggest selling movie of all time, with  a global gross of 936 million in ticket sales.

Okay, back to Finding Dory. The movie was released on the 17th of June, just about four weeks ago. It is barely one month old and it has already sold so many tickets. It has currently grossed 644 million in ticket sales globally, and would definitely hit the 700 million mark in a few weeks.

5.  Deadpool ($782 million)
I like this movie, but honestly, I don't really understand why it sold so much. I mean, the cursing in the movie is so disturbing. I don't know, maybe that's what gave it that shock value that made people really want to see it. Don't get me wrong, it is a good super hero movie, but I just don't see it as extraordinary enough to be so successful at the box office.

It was released in February, and so far it has grossed 782 million dollars globally in ticket sales.

4.  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($872 million)
This is a very well put together super hero movie about Superman and Batman, and a surprise appearance by Wonder Woman. A lot of people say the story was too much, and that the movie would have been better with more action, but the story made the action at the end a lot more enjoyable to me.

The 2 hours 30 minutes DC Comics movie was released March of this year, and has grossed $872 million at box office worldwide.

3.  The Jungle Book ($936 million)
This is one of my favorite movies of 2016. I think after Captain America, this is my favorite movie this year. The movie gets your adrenaline pumping from the get go. I think the Mowgli  kid (played by 12 year old actor, Neel Sethi) needs to win an award for real. Great acting from the Indian-American kid. The special effects are state of the art, and the plot is really top notch for a movie about a kid living in the jungle. The movie has grossed $936 million to date globally at the box office. With an estimated budget of $175 million, that's some great return on investment.

2.  Zootopia ($1 billion)
Before this movie was released, they were only 25 movies in history that had grossed a billion upwards globally; now, Zootopia is the 26th on that list. I haven't seen the movie, so i can't speak much on it. I just know it is a Disney animated movie. It was released in March, and so far, it has grossed over 1 billion dollars at the box office.

1.  Captain America: Civil War ($1.1 billion)
Yup! We are at the top of the list. My personal favorite movie of 2016 so far, Captain America: Civil War is a masterpiece of a movie. Great cinematography, great plot, great fight sequences, super great cast...should I go on. But for real, the fight scenes in this movie were too well coordinated...one of the best of any super hero movie I have ever seen. I am talking of the hand-to-hand combat.

With over $1.1 billion in box office gross globally, it has become the 12th biggest selling movie in Hollywood history (worldwide).

That's all folks. I will come with an update on this at the end of the year. Data courtesy of boxofficemojo.com
